Mayday demonstrations, Berlin, 2011  Kevin Mertens

As a freelance visuals editor I am specialized in the areas of politics and business. I can source, select, produce and edit the strongest possible images to tell your story.

Next to working with leading international photo agencies and experienced visual journalists, I always consider and give emerging talent a chance for publication. My network of the best young photojournalists and documentary photographers from the German speaking countries is constantly growing.

You can hire me for special projects, temporary and part-time assignments. I will gladly come and work in your editorial offices or I can work from my own office. I am experienced in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Brigde, InDesign and many other digital tools and have worked extensively with the editorial systems Open Media, Interred, K4 and WordPress.

Currently I am working as a picture producer / editor for the German news organization Deutsche Welle. Before that I worked as a photo editor for the German weekly newspaper der Freitag for 9 years and also freelanced for the daily newspaper taz for nearly two years. In 2010 I co-founded the digital magazine for young German photojournalism, which was nominated for the prestigious Grimme Online Award in 2011.
